About NMBUwood

NMBUwood is a shared arena for collaboration on the use of wood in construction across the university, and a common point of contact for business and industry.

Our activities span research and innovation related to the planning, production, and use of wood products in timber buildings, including aesthetics, environment, health, and the business models associated with these.

About NMBU's research and education on wood

NMBU is a leading center for wood research, advancing knowledge on wood properties, sustainable timber construction, and circular use of wood across the entire value chain. State‑of‑the‑art facilities support cutting‑edge studies on material performance, climate impacts, and innovative strategies for reuse and resource efficiency.

The Wood Laboratory is a laboratory for testing the anatomical, physical, and mechanical properties of wood, wood joints, and wooden structural elements. We offer testing services for the mechanical properties of materials and structural components. Read more about this service here.

In addition to its strong research environment, NMBU offers education that builds broad and lasting competence in wood science and sustainable building with wood, preparing future professionals to contribute to a low‑carbon, circular bioeconomy.
