About the climate station
The meteorological observations at the agricultural college in Ås started as early as 1863 and since 1874 we have continuous observations in our database. The early observations were performed by human observers, but nowadays the station is fully automized, delivering fresh data every 10 minutes.
Measurements contain of the standard atmospheric parameters like air temperature, relative humidity, air pressure, precipitation and wind. A large suite of radiation sensors measure solar and terrestrial radiation. Additionally, snow depth, evaporation and soil temperature and soil water content as well as atmospheric and ground heat fluxes are measured.Find more details about some of the instruments (in Norwegian):

Geographical coordinates: N 59° 39' 37'', Ø 10 ° 46' 54'', 93.3 MASL
The fieldsite has an areal of 12 da and is surrounded by cultivated farm land of about 500 da in the rural area (small houses and forest) of Ås municipality.BIOKLIM is co-localized with weather stations by the Norwegian Meteorological institute and NIBIO (NIBIO LMT) and a station by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE) I tillegg er BIOKLIM vert for en av Kartverkets posisjonsbasestasjoner samt en seismisk stasjon fra NORSAR.
