The main goal of this project is to make a comparative study between two different processes to obtain biodiesel for aviation. Also, the economic viability and the environmental impact will be studied.

About BIOPROAV

  • The wide ranging use of limited energy sources and the broad increment of the population have created an imperative need of seeking new alternatives in the field of energy. Also, the polemic environmental issues such as the global warming and the greenhouse effect have meant the starting point for new clean technologies researching. Biofuels represent one of these alternatives and, concretely, the use of biodiesel has been largely increased since the beginning of the new century.

    • Determine quantitatively and qualitatively the main characteristics of the non-edible oils which are the raw materials.
    • Synthesize and characterize the green heterogeneous catalysts
    • Determine the most adequate green heterogeneous catalyst produced from the waste of the fish industry for the biodiesel production.
    • Select the most adequate alcohol for the biodiesel production
    • Analyze the reaction products and the quality of the produced biodiesel using the UNE EN 14214
    • Optimize the biodiesel production using the Design of Experiments as statistical technique.
    • Determine quantitatively and qualitatively the main characteristics of solid waste, olive stone, seed
    • Kinetic Modeling using mathematical tools. The experimental data will be using a nonlinear multiparametric algorithm
