Study program: Landscape Architecture for Global Sustainability

Why did you choose to study abroad?

I had my bachelor’s degree in architecture, and I decided to pursue my master’s in landscape architecture, which was not an option in my country.

Also, studying abroad allows me to know how the rest of the world is working and progressing in this field.

Why did you choose to study in Norway and at NMBU?

Besides Norway’s breathtaking natural landscapes, the thing that motivated me to choose Norway was its strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental protection.

This focus aligns well with the principles of landscape architecture, which involve designing with sustainability and ecological considerations in mind.

NMBU is a well-known university in its field. But more importantly, NMBU is a life science university that is actively involved in environmental research and sustainable development. In most cases, Landscape Architecture programs are offered by technical oriented universities.

And, being a part of NMBU, this program is providing students with opportunities to engage in meaningful research projects.

How did you experience settling in on campus?

Besides having the most beautiful campus in Norway, NMBU has diverse classrooms with a large number of internationals which makes it a unique experience. Being surrounded by a group of warm, helpful, and similar-minded people, I have had a lovely experience as a new student.

Tell us about your study program?

This program covers quite a diverse range of area which includes social, environmental, and urban issues as well as climate and ecological issues, which is very fascinating.

The teaching method includes study tours, personal research, design, and groupwork which is a very interactive method and gives you the opportunity to look at an issue from many different perspectives.

Sometimes, we learn a lot from each other which is an effective way to develop our skills or sometimes our thinking process.

How would you describe Campus Ås and its surroundings?

It is a small, peaceful place with a beautiful campus that changes color with the seasons. All the buildings are well-facilitated for the students, with lots of study rooms, a library, and comfortable workspaces.

Despite being in a small town, it has all the facilities for students within their reach and has a good public transport facility.

Students are the center of activities in the area. Besides studies, students here have a lively and active social life with lots of festivities going on around the year.

What can you imagine working with after your studies?

After completing my education, I aspire to work as a professional in my chosen field and actively contribute to the progress and development of my home country.
