Why did you choose to study in Norway?

I wanted to experience a different view and help get more perspectives of how research can be more specified.

As for choosing Norway, the weather was a huge factor because I am from Bangladesh and the hot weather can be very challenging! Winter and snow feel cozier. Other factors include the quality of life, quality of education and the environment.

Why did you choose NMBU?

It was in line with what I was looking for: close to nature, high quality research labs, good student environment and the close-knit international community, it all felt very nice.

NMBU has both academic achievements as well as environmental achievements, which helps put it in the spotlight.

How did you experience settling in on campus?

It was very pleasant. I had so many people help me out and the locals are warm and kind.

The collective housing solution provided by Siås housing also has been amazing, and a nice way to experience Norwegian student culture at its best!

Tell us about your study program

It’s a landscape architecture program, but a main issue for my study program is the climate crisis and its impacts on how we shape the world in a global perspective. It focuses more on how we can design a landscape in ways that is innovative and helpful in a global scale.

What I particularly like about the program, is the approach of having shorter assignments that leads up to a bigger project, through hands-on learning in a studio environment. This is fantastic!

I think field work also is an valuable addition, for exploring not only Norway but other parts of ongoing projects around the world. Definitely a plus!!

How would you describe Campus Ås and its surroundings?

It is peaceful and very well kept. It feels calming, with the nature and the various fields and parks within NMBU. It feels like a leisurely stroll every time I’m going to or from campus.

Life in general in Norway is very cozy and peaceful!

What can you imagine working with after your studies?

I think I can see myself working at NMBU, or within Norway. But I love to travel so I would love to work in different countries both western and eastern!
