Aim and scope

The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers to advance understanding of how accelerated warming affects Arctic and alpine ecosystems and their feedbacks to climate.

• Share cutting-edge research on climate–ecosystem interactions in tundra environments
• Facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue across ecology, geoscience, and related fields
• Develop new collaborative research initiatives and publications
• Engage and support early-career researchers within the ITEX network
• Promote communication of research findings to policy, management, and the public

Practical information

• Venue

  The workshop is held at the historic Hotel Finse 1222 - link to their website (external)

• Travel

  • Oslo Airport Gardermoen is the most accessible airport when arriving from abroad, Bergen Airport Flesland is closer.
  • Finse is only accessible via train, either from Oslo or Bergen. Buy train tickets at Vy's webpage here (external).

• Clothing

  April conditions can be cold and variable. We recommend layering up, windproof and waterproof jacket and trousers for excursions, and warm, waterproof boots with good grip. There will most likely be snow, so bring skis if you want. Skis and snowshoes can also be rented at the hotel (more info: www.hotelfinse1222.no/experiences). At this time of year the snow is often compact so it is possible to walk with hiking boots.

  Morning dips in the lake are optional - remember swimwear.

  Outdoor activities are weather dependent.
