  • Learning activities

The student's knowledge gain is based on both lectures and independent studies by the student. Lectures will be held in different group sizes, clinical demonstrations will be held by trained clinicians, and group work and practical training will be supervised.
  • Syllabus

Syllabus, learning objectives and literature guidance will be published on Canvas
  • Prerequisites

The students are expected to be well prepared for the given topics through thorough repetition of curriculum from earlier semesters
  • Assessment method

The subject will be tested with an OSCE examn. It has 10 stations with an assignment each, in witch the student is given 6 minutes to complete the assignment. The test is evaluated as pass of fail, and 70% of the tasks has to be approved to pass.
  • About use of AI

    • Activities in the course that are tied to orginized teaching, clinical skill practices and the exam (OSCE) has been assigned AI category AI1, meaning no use of AI.
    • Activities in the course where the students work on their own with course material and theoretical assignments ("Selvstudier") have been assigned AI category AI2, meaning Specified use of AI. In written assignments that means that AI can be used for brainstorming and proofreading purposes. Use of AI should always be disclosed, with a description of what programs have been used and how they have been used in production of the text. The student is responsible for the final contents of their text.

Use of AI should always be in accordance with NMBUs guidelines for use of AI.

  • Mandatory activity

All modules in the course are mandatory.

    Absence from activities in IKD

    • One day valid absence per week will be accepted.
    • Prolonged valid absence or any non valid absence, means that the student has to redo the whole module the following year.

    Documentation requirements

    • A maximum of 3 sick days can be reported directly to the course manager and the student administration.
    • Prolonged sickness will require the student to hand a doctor's note to the student administration.

    Consequences of absence from course

    • If absent more than one day per week, the student will have to schedule a retake/alternative activity with the course manager. The course manager will decide the details of this retake. If the scope of the absence is such that an alternative activity cannot replace it, the student will not pass the course and/or be allowed to take the OSCE. The student will then have to redo the course and/or the exam the following year. The student will not be allowed to start their clinical rotations the following semester, as a passed OSCE is a requirement to do so.

What is characterized as valid absence

Personal sickness or sick child <12 years of age

Other extraordinary circumstances such as for students with political or extracurricular positions or sports careers, will have to be declared with the student administration in advance to be accepted as valid reasons for absence.

  • Notes

Profession safety (HSE) instruction will be taught during the modules. A form in Canvas on HSE training documentation has to be performed and correctly answered by the student within the second week of the module Clinical training. The aim of the HSE questions is to confirm that the student has understood the HSE instructions given and that the student intends to follow these instructions. When the HSE-form has been correctly filled out, the student will be directed to a form in Landax to confirm that their HSE-training has been completed.
