About this course

Infection Control VET322 is a short course designed to provide students with examples of applied infection control. Through external guest speakers from industries, authorities, and research institutions, we learn how infection control is utilized to monitor and combat relevant zoonoses, contagious animal and fish diseases, and protect against new diseases and the introduction of infections to Norway. Additionally, we aim to highlight the veterinarian's responsibilities in the field of infection control.

Learning outcome

After completing the course the student should:

  • Understand how the principles of biosecurity can be used in practice.
  • Possess a responsible attitude to biosecurity and prevention of infections.
  • Lectures, group assignments and plenary discussions
  • The course ends with a presentation and plenary discussion where the course supervisors are present and the students can ask questions. The course coordinator is available throughout the course and can be reached by email.
  • Basic understanding of infection control and principles of infection prevention."

    Completed 1-9. semester of the Vveterinary Medicine Program

  • Participation in plenary discussions (signed attendance), contribution in group assignment
