Description and quality control of plants and maintenance with reference to Norwegian standards. Ecological assessment of Norwegian and alien species. Climate adaptation in plants, winter damage, genetic variation, growth, and biodiversity considerations related to the establishment, care and protection of trees and other vegetation in urban and semi--urban areas.

Learning outcome

Knowledge

The student must have knowledge of:

  • how landscape plants grow and biological prerequisites for establishment, care and protection
  • the most important environmental factors that control the growth cycle in northern areas, as well as the most common winter, biotic and abiotic damage to lignoses.
  • Plant quality and size sorting for trees, shrubs and perennials
  • environmentally and climate-friendly establishment and management,
  • which tasks are included in management, different methods for the most common types of management, as well as management plans.
