Principles of geographic information systems (GIS). Spatial statistics. Spatial autocorrelation. Point pattern analysis. Deterministic and geostatistical interpolation methods. analysis of grids and surfaces. Overlay analysis. Suitability analysis. Network analysis. Visualizing spatial data. Databases concepts. Data quality. GIS and society. Introduction to geographical data science.
Learning outcome
Knowledge of geographic data and data models. Be familiar with common methods of geographical analysis. Be able to select methods for conducting basic analysis of geo-referenced data and be aware of the limitations and the possibilities that these methods have. Know important actors, collaboration and use of geodata in society. Know how GIS can contribute to the work to achieve the sustainability goals.
