AOS136-B HR – Employer Responsibility and HSE
About this course
The course provides a practical introduction to how the HR function should contribute to ensuring good, lawful, and sustainable working conditions in Norwegian organizations. The course covers central frameworks for working life, with emphasis on employment law, health, safety and environment (HSE), and employer governance responsibilities, viewed from an HR perspective.
The course emphasizes the practical application of regulations and guidelines in HR work, as well as an understanding of factors that influence the psychosocial work environment. Through practice-oriented examples, the course provides insight into how responsible employer practices and effective work environment management contribute to sustainable and well-functioning organizations.
Learning outcome
After completing the course, the student will have the following learning outcomes, divided into knowledge, skills, and general competence:
Knowledge
The student:
- Has knowledge of the regulatory frameworks governing employment conditions in Norway, viewed from an HR and employer perspective
- Is familiar with the most important laws and regulations that frame employer responsibility and systematic HSE work in organizations
- Has knowledge of central psychosocial factors in the work environment and their significance for health, wellbeing, and collaboration
- Has an understanding of the tripartite cooperation model and the role of social partnership in regulating working life
Skills
The student:
- Can apply fundamental regulations and HSE principles in the assessment of some straightforward, practice-oriented HR challenges
- Can identify psychosocial work environment factors and propose relevant measures within HR's area of responsibility
- Can take into account social partnership and employee participation when assessing employer responsibility
General Competence
The student:
- Has an understanding of how regulations, employee participation, and social partnership set the boundaries for organizational practice
- Can reflect on employer responsibility and ethical considerations in employment relationships
- Can communicate central issues related to the work environment and HSE in a clear and professionally grounded manner
