I have a multidisciplinary agronomy MSc and a PhD in soil microbiology. As a member of the Agroecology group, my current focus is on the sustainability of farming and food systems and education for sustainable development.
I am co-responsible for the Agroecology MSc programme at NMBU since its start in 2000. This includes the double-degree programme European MSc in Agroecology (a collaboration between NMBU and France Agro3). I am responsible for the MSc course Agroecology: Action Learning in Farming and Food Systems and an undergraduate course in Organic Agriculture, and I co-teach the online MSc course Agroecology: Working with the Complexity of Farming Systems.
My research includes soil–crop ecology with an emphasis on soil carbon and nitrogen dynamics and soil quality, and action research on experiential, action-oriented education in agroecology. I currently co-ordinate the recently granted Agroecology Partnership project LIFT with participants from ES, PT, DK, SE and NO, where we take a Living Lab and food systems approach to driving an agroecological transition on farms and in the landscape.
