I study wildlife ecology with a focus on both fundamental processes and applied relevance. My work combines field-based data collection—such as non-invasive genetic sampling and camera trapping—with advanced analytical methods, including hierarchical models that help separate ecological signals from observation processes. This approach supports a deeper understanding of animal populations and their dynamics. My research also includes the development of innovative technologies for animal monitoring, contributing to a broader effort to improve how we study and coexist with wildlife.

I lead the Applied Quantitative Ecology Group at NMBU, where we aim to develop tools and insights that are both scientifically rigorous and useful for conservation and management.
