In general, my research interest is to reveal and understand the link between genotype and phenotype in mammals and fish. I have headed projects identifying causal mutations for traits like fertility/ovulation rate, carotenoid metabolism and muscle growth. Over many years I have also had an interest in coat colour genetics, and the pleiotropic effects of genes related to melanisation. In 2022 we completed the FHF-project "Rød laks - genetiske effekter". I am also participating in the EU-project RUMIGEN.
Currently I use 50% of my time as pro-dean of education at the Faculty of Biosciences.
