Achim Kohler is a professor in physics at the Faculty of Science and Technology at NMBU. Prof. Kohler has a background in data analysis and physics. He has 20 years’ experience in data modelling and measurement technology within vibrational spectroscopy. He is leading the BioSpec group at RealTek. The BioSpec group is a multidisciplinary group doing research in the field of vibrational spectroscopy of biological materials. The group has been doing poneering work in the understanding and modelling of scattering and absorption of infrared spectroscopy of biological materials. The group is developing automated screening for high-throughput characterization of biological materials such as microorganisms based on vibrational spectroscopy. The group is further one of the world-leading groups in the multivariate analysis of vibrational spectroscopic data. Prof. Kohler has led several Norwegian and European projects. Read more about the BioSpec group at: https://www.nmbu.no/en/faculty/realtek/research/groups/biospectroscopy

Prosjekter
The PHOTONFOOD project will develop a portable solution for detecting microbial and chemical contamination in food.
In this project we study traits related to breeding, feeding, health and reproduction in dairy cows on AMS farms. Management of AMS farms is also an important aim of the Project.
Bioconversion of low-cost fat materials into high-value PUFA-Carotenoid-rich biomass (LipoFungi).
