  • In this project, we have mainly focused on the effect of Macrotermes termites and large ungulates on the structure and function of a savanna ecosystem. Study site is Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda. We have a long-term experiment where we exclude ungulates from large, vegetated termite mounds and adjacent off-mound savanna areas.

The experiment has been conducted to study the effect of termites and large herbivores on the savanna ecosystem. We have studied how termites and large herbivores alone or in concert, effects vegetation, large and small mammals and birds.
