About the study place

The University of Western Australia  (UWA) is located on Australia’s western coast in Perth. It is a member of the “Group of Eight”, an association of the eight leading universities in Australia. In 2012, UWA was ranked as number 96 on the list of the world’s 100 best universities (Academic Ranking of World Universities - ARWU). Perth has about 1,7 million inhabitants, and is situated by the Swan River.

    A minimum average grade of C is required.

    All exchanges require a completion of 60ECTS prior to a stay abroad.

  • Language of Instruction

    English

    Language requirements

    4 in English from videregående (must not be older than 5 years), or

    TOEFL (internet-based test): score 90, with a minimum of 22 in the writing part, and no less than 20 in any of the other parts, or
    IELTS: a score of 6.5 (and no less than 6.0 in any of the parts).

  • Tuition fees

    NMBU students have to pay a Study Abroad fee, but it is possible to get a refund for accommodation costs up to AUD 1500 (Australian dollars) per semester, if evidence of paid accommodation rent can be shown. This applies both for on-campus and private accommodation.

  • Recognition of credits

    24 credits at UWA is equivalent to 30 credits at NMBU.
    NOTE: At UWA it is necessary to register for 4 units / 24 credits.

  • Semester timing

    Semester 1: February - June.
    Semester 2: July - November.

  • Visa

    Anyone who is going to study for more than three months in Australia must have a valid visa. Once you have received Confirmation of Enrollment (CoE) from the host university, you can apply for a visa electronically and you will receive a response from within 3 weeks but can take longer.

    As of July 2024, visa application costs have increased greatly to AUD 1600.
