About

Lincoln University is located in the village of Lincoln in rural surroundings on New Zealand's South Island, 22 km south of the largest city, Christchurch. Christchurch has about 390.000 inhabitants and is situated in the southern end of Pegasus Bay. The university offers a range of relevant courses for NMBU students, including economics, animal science, ecology, nature management, engineering, landscape architecture, plant- and forest sciences.

  • Bachelor, Master and PhD level.

    Length of stay

    1- 2 semesters

  • Applicants are chosen according to the highest average grade scores achieved upon applying.

    All exchanges require a completion of 60ECTS prior to a stay abroad.

  • English

    Language requirements:

    Upper secondary school (norsk: videregående skole): Average grade of 4 in English.

  • The tuition fee is ca. NZD8100 per semester (2020).

  • Semester 1: February – June.
    Semester 2: July – November.

  • Bachelor students: 4 units / 60 credits (at 100-300 level) are equivalent to 30 credits at NMBU.
    Master students: 3 units (at 600 level) are equivalent to 30 credits at NMBU.

  • The self-catered accommodation is NZ$4200.00. On campus accommodation is guaranteed for NMBU students.

  • For periods of study exceeding three months, a visa is necessary. To apply for a visa, it is necessary to have been accepted as an exchange student, to have received a receipt for paid tuition fees, and to be able to prove sufficient funds for covering living expenses during the stay. You can apply online through Immigration New Zealand, processing time can take up to four weeks  and the fee is approx. NZ$330.00

    Important: Students who are part of an approved exchange scheme must apply for a student visa before their arrival in New Zealand. This includes students who are from visa-waiver countries.
    Exchange students can come to New Zealand as visitors and apply for an exchange student visa within New Zealand, but only if they can provide an exceptional reason as to why they could not obtain one before arrival.
