The PhD project aims at contribute to and analyze the development of production and consumption of organic vegetables in the region of Vestfold and the surrounding areas.

Background

The study is taking place in the county of Vestfold, and the lower parts of Telemark and Buskerud in Norway, where most of the domestic organic vegetables are produced. The county of Vestfold has from 2010 troughout 2018 been a state financed national pilot regarding development of production and markets for organic vegetables. However, there are several factors hindering such a development, and the project will test out new and innovative ways for actors to collaborate in order to develop despite the challenging and complex situation.

Objective

The PhD project will a) contribute to and b) analyze the development of production and consumption of organic vegetables in the region of Vestfold and surrounding areas. The project aims to contribute to knowledge about how sustainability transitions and development processes can take place, in addition to be useful in the specific setting of the study.
