Bio4Fuels subproject 4, Gasification Processes, is shortly submitting an article titled “Entrained flow gasification of sewage sludge digestate: experimental and simulation study”.

It is challenging to obtain complete carbon conversion from the gasification of pure sewage sludge digestate. However, when mixed with wood powder at a 50/50 ratio the CCE efficiency was substantially increased and reached a complete conversion. CGE was also greatly improved with the addition of wood powder where efficiencies of 100 % were obtained at high gasification temperature, low λ, and high S/B. A multiscale Eulerian-Lagrangian CPFD model was developed and validated using experimental data for both SSD and SSD/WP and showed to be well-suited for simulating SSD and mixture of SSD and WP in high-temperature EF gasification.
