Shrinking civic spaces - Pandel discussion with Student Peace Proze winners and SAIH Infomeeting
Freedom of speech and academic freedom are fundamental rights, but in many countries the space for student activism is becoming increasingly narrow. How does this affect students' ability to fight for their rights, and what can we do to support them?

Welcome to a panel debate on "Shrinking Civic Space" - a worrying trend where freedom of expression and academic freedom are increasingly shrinked. We ask the questions how can we stand in solidarity with student activists worldwide, and support them in their work?
SAIH (The Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund) invites you to a panel debate with last year's winner of the Students' Peace Prize, the student organization IPEN.
IPEN consists of Nicaraguan student activists in exile and working for the right to education and academic freedom, who are now visiting Norway in connection with the presentation of the award. We will discuss why it is important to talk about the global trend of a shrinking civil space for action, the challenges activists face, and the role of students in fighting for change.
Organizer: SAIH (Studentenes og Akademikernes Internasjonale Hjelpefond)
The event will be in English and is free and open to everyone.
Food will be served towards the end of the event.
