About this course

The course aims to prepare students for REAL101, MATH100, and MATH-INF100.

Key elements include algebra, functions, preparation for calculus, modeling, and the use of learning tools.

In addition, the course will support students’ critical thinking, reflective abilities, motivation, and work effort, preparing them for further studies.

Learning outcome

Students should master the course content and be prepared for further mathematics courses, both from a scientific and a pedagogical perspective. In addition, students should be able to connect mathematics to real-world problems within their field of study.
  • Learning activities

    Teaching sessions - 4 hours each day during the August block - are mandatory. These sessions will include a mix of activities, including lecture segments, self-reflection, peer reflection, and other forms of active work.

    In addition, 2 hours of problem-solving workshops will be offered each day.

    Students may also seek academic support through the faculty’s (REALTEK) oracle service during the teaching period.

    A written exam will be held at the end of August. Grading scale: Pass/ fail

    Autumn: 2 out of 2 assignments must be approved.

  • Examiner scheme

    An external examiner will be used to evaluate the examination papers.
  • Mandatory activity

    August: A minimum attendance of 75% is required. If attendance falls below this, a test may be administered that still allows students to qualify for the exam. Activities will be assigned during the sessions.

    Autumn: Two mandatory activities must be approved in order to pass the course.

    Mandatory activities must be approved during the ongoing teaching period.
