About this course

In\troducion to urban landscape, urbans structure ad urban space. Exercises connected to theory of urban open space design. Lectures on methods of urban analysis and on developing concepts for urban spaces and their layout in projects. Introduction to the design prosess. Handdrawing, physical models. Lectures on urbanism and urban history, some connected to lectures and seminars in the course APL 103. Exercises in groups and indiviually.

Learning outcome

The students shall become familiar with basic knowledge about urban open spaces, and about methods for analysing the urban landscape in different contexts. The students will get practical knowledge by using both digital programs, handdrawing and physical models in exercisis on developing urban open space projects, including grading exercises of an urban open space
  • Lectures, individual or group work under supervision, group discussions. Opponent for fellow students.
  • Supervision individual or in group in class. Canvas is utilized for information assignments, hand-outs, etc.

  • Final large assignment.

  • External examinor comments on and evaluates the individual final assignment.
  • All assignments must be handed in and passed. Several examinations through the semester. Excursions.

    The transport fees during excursjons must be covered by student.

  • Ca 200 hours of structured time in class. Lectures, excursions, critiques. In addition students will be tutored ca. 3 hours per student.
