About this course
Aim:
The bachelor thesis should provide training in the independent processing of research questions within an area of animal nursing. The bachelor thesis offers students an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge of scientific theory and research methodology within their chosen area of specialization
Bachelor's thesis theme/content
The bachelor's project paper shall elucidate an area of specialisation within the subject animal nursing.
It must be clear what developments and research have been undertaken in the speciality area.
The research project will primarily be a scientific literature study performed within ethical norms of such studies.
In cases where it is an advantage and necessary for the usage of original data, students may use existing data from NMBU's vet school. This data may be clinical journal data from the vet school's electronic journal systems and-/or combined with clinical and pathological diagnostic results.
Learning outcome
Learning outcomes:
- Students should be able to develop and investigate a research question in animal nursing through a literature review.
- After completing the thesis, students should be able to search for scientific literature, understand how scientific work is conducted, be trained in assessing how random and systematic errors can affect the results of scientific work, and be able to present scientific work both in writing and orally.
- The student should be able to work together with others on the thesis, while also taking individual responsibility for the completed project. The student should be able to take initiative and be responsible for the process and progress with the support of a supervisor.
- Through the thesis, the student should document understanding and insight within an area of animal nursing.
- The student should have broad knowledge about professional development within the chosen area of specialization.
- The student should be able to conduct and document systematic literature searches.
- The student should be able to analyze and evaluate various scientific sources and use these to argue and reason a professional standpoint.
- The student should be able to conduct a literature review under supervision in accordance with current research ethical standards.
DYR209 will help the students acquire the skills and knowledge described in the following ACOVENE Competences from ACOVENEs Dossier of European Competences for the Veterinary Nurse :
