About this course

This course will comprise theories and methods in organisational and leadership psychology and how they can be used to understand and improve organizations and their employees. Themes covered are motivation, learning and transfer of experience in organisations, problem solving and decision processes, individual differences, leadership and groups and teams.

After completing the course, the student will have the following learning outcomes:

  • has knowledge of the most important theories within organisational psychology
  • has knowledge about how empirical research is used to test and support theories in psychology
  • has insights into how psychological theories may be applied to improve productivity and well-being in organisations.

  • is able to analyze and evaluate key assumptions related to different psychological theories and approaches.
  • is able to develop strategies based on psychological theories and principles to manage challenges in organisations
  • can develop measures to improve motivation, learning, work environment and decision making processes

  • can apply knowledge and skills in organisational psychology to understand and manage complex problems related to the psychological aspects of working life

  • Assessment method

    Portfolio assessment consisting of three video submissions responding to reflection questions provided in the course, and a written assignment.

  • Examiner scheme

    An external examiner will review the syllabus and the exam.
  • Teaching hours

    The course consists of 15-20 video lectures. These last from 15 to 45 minutes and are posted weekly on Canvas. In addition, seminars are held on Zoom every other week, each lasting up to 2 hours. The seminars include exercises and group discussions focusing on the practical application of the course material.
  • Reduction of credits

    5 ECTS overlap with AOS230/AOS230F Organizational Psychology.

    5 ECTS overlap with AOS229-B Managerial and Organisational Psychology.
