Course frequency:Annually

Nominal workload:Lectures with homework, approx. 125 hours.

Teaching and exam period:This course starts in Spring parallel. This course has teaching/evaluation in Spring parallel, .

About this course

The focus in the course will be dimensjoning of different industrial separation processes. Lectures will be given in distillation, gas absorption and stripping, drying, mechanical/physical separation methods, liquid extraction of solid material and membrane filtration. Calculations, dimensioning and energy balances will be an important part of the course. The industrial processes are chosen because they are relevant in the oil industry, chemical industry, waste water treatment and food industry.

Learning outcome

The student shall be able to calculate the physical dimensjons of industrial processes, in addition to being able to carry out mass and energy balances.
