Filming and photography on NMBU's properties

The following guidelines apply to filming, photography and sound recording on NMBU's properties. The guidelines cover all areas outside and inside buildings.

Applications for filming on campus can be sent to eia@nmbu.no

All recordings and subsequent use must comply with Norwegian law. If there are people in focus, individually or in a group, consent must be obtained from all involved.

Filming, photography and sound recording for news, articles and documentaries

There are no restrictions on recording for production of news, articles or documentaries on NMBU's properties as long as this does not disturb NMBU's daily operations. Productions that require facilitation, either in the form of equipment, services or access to closed areas, must be agreed with the Department of Estate and Facility. Facilitation is only provided if NMBU has the capacity and resources to meet the needs.

Filming, photography and sound recording for commercial use

The starting point of the Copyright Act is that buildings can be freely depicted. Whether the use is commercial or not, it does not limit the use. NMBU wish to protect the university's brand and values, and our duties to manage the properties in line with society's intentions. The old buildings are strongly linked to NMBU's brand, and we do not want them to be used for commercial purposes, such as advertising, paid editorial articles, marketing of products, services or people. This particularly applies to the buildings around Storplenen and Universitetstunet, NMBU makes necessary assessments when receiving an application. Send application to eia@nmbu.no.

Use of drone

Before drone flying can be carried out, documentation must be provided NMBUs Chief of Safety.

  • drone operator certificate
  • flight plan with map and timetable
  • emergency landing site and notification plan for employees/students.

NMBU may be interested in using the recordings that are made. And it may be appropriate to make an agreement on rights to the recording.

Rental costs

Where there is need for NMBU employees to accompany tenants, it will add additional cost. Examples of services that may be charged is administration, security, cleaning and other. NMBU will assess each individual application.

If recording has to be done outside working hours, it will affect the cost for 100% overtime.

NMBU has a conservation-worthy campus. The tenant/company is responsible for any damage to the property.

Application must be sent well in advance, preferably two weeks before admission. Send the application to eia@nmbu.no.
