I am a professor in entomology and teach, perform research and disseminate within the topics of ecology, biodiversity and entomology. My primary interest is insects, their species richness and importance in ecosystems. I work mostly in forests with dead wood dependent insects, but I am also intrigued by soil animals as well as ecosystems above the tree line. I am particularly interested in insect-fungi interactions and the importance of this interaction for wood decomposition. Current projects include EcoForest, investigating long-term effects of clear-cutting on multiple taxa and ecosystem processes, and BioDivAbove - biodiversity mapping of forests from above.
