I am a PhD-student in Economics at NMBU School of Economics and Business and Skatteforsk - Centre for Tax Research.

The subject of my research project is taxation and regulation of consumption with externalities. Cross-border shopping, duty-free and unrecorded consumption of alcohol and tobacco are important themes for my research. I am supervised by Professor Kyrre Rickertsen and co-supervised by Professor Atle Guttormsen and Professor Frode Alfnes.

In my first paper, I am using the empirically based macro model “KONSUM-G” to simulate reforms in the duty-free arrangement on alcohol and tobacco in Norway. The paper is joint work with Odd Erik Nygård in the research department at Statistics Norway. Working paper (download).

In my second paper, I am using data from Vinmonopolet and the covid-19 pandemic as a natural experiment to estimate the magnitude of border trade in wine and hard liquor in Norway. Working paper.
