Course contents:
Business cycle analysis, stabilization policy and economic growth. These are discussed in the context of current Norwegian and international economic issues.
Learning outcome:

Candidates from the course shall know core macroeconomic topics, questions, models, such as Keynesian multiplier models, the IS-RR-PK model for closed and open economies, growth models and models to explain financial crises.  

Candidates shall be able to use these models for doing critical analyses of current macroeconomic issues, including assessing the consequences of macroeconomic changes for firms and individuals.

Candidates shall be able to analyse economic policy and economic reports, such as "Parliamentary White Papers" .

Candidates shall be able to communicate core macroeconomic topics, models and questions to others.

Learning activities:
The course combines lectures, exercises, class discussions, and own study of an assigned curriculum. 
Syllabus:
Parts of: Blanchard, Amighini & Giavazzi (2017) Macroeconomics: A European Perspective (3rd.ed.) or Holden, Steinar (2016): «Makroøkonomi» (1. utg.)  and additional articles. A complete curriculum will be handed out at the start of the course.
Prerequisites:
ECN120 Introduction to Macroeconomics, part I and ECN122 Introduction to Macroeconomics, Part II or similar course.
Recommended prerequisites:
Mandatory activity:
Students must submit and obtain pass grade for 6 of 8 assignments. Passed compulsory activities are valid for 18 months.
Assessment:
Written final exam in the exam period, 3 hours 
Nominal workload:
300 hours
Entrance requirements:
Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse).
Reduction of credits:
ECN220 Economics II - 5 ECTS
Type of course:
Lectures 4 hours per week for  first 4 weeks.  Thereafter 2 hrs of lectures + 2  hours of  exercises per week.

Examiner:
External examiner will control the quality of syllabus, questions for the final examination, and principles for the assessment of the examination answers.
