Topics that are covered are: light, temperature, turbidity, colour, gases, ionic composition, nutritional salts, seston, primary and secondary production, organic material, phytoplankton, animal plankton, benthic animals, sediments, lake types, degree of trophy, pollution, etc. Some limnological methods will be demonstrated.
The student is to become familiar with basic physical, chemical and biological processes in order to be able to understand nutrient turnover and the pollution of our lakes and rivers.
Lectures. Exercises are integrated into/alternate with the lectures.
The reading list is handed out at course start.
Final written examination (3.5 hours) counts 100%. Grading scale A-E / Ikke bestått.
Lectures: approx. 50 hours. Personal commitment: 250 hours.
