Course contents:
Estimation and testing in simple and multiple linear regression models. Indicator predictor variables. Subset selection. Analysis of residuals. Assessment of models. Predictions. Practical use of statistical software.
Learning outcome:
The students will learn how to analyze data using linear regression, both single and multiple regression, and also with indicator predictor variables.
Learning activities:
Lectures, project work in groups and individually, exercises in groups, individual study.
Teaching support:
The teacher is always available. Groups with assistant teacher.
Syllabus:
Textbook will be announced at first lecture.
Prerequisites:
STAT100 or similar.
Recommended prerequisites:
Mandatory activity:
Compulsory project assignments.
Assessment:
3.5-hour written examination.
Nominal workload:
Lectures: 30 hours. computer exercises: 30 hours. Individual study: 90 hours.

Special requirements in Science
Reduction of credits:
ECN201, ECN202 and STAT300, full reduction.
Type of course:

Lectures: 2 hours daily.

Computer exercises: 2 hours daily.

Examiner:
An external examiner approves the examination questions and marks 25 randomly selected examination papers together with the lecturer.
Allowed examination aids: All types of calculators, all other aids.
