Course contents:
Topics: Counselling strategies, communication and listening skills.
Learning outcome:
The aim is to develop competence as counsellors for student teachers and other persons involved in any kind of teaching activity. The participants will become familiar with, reflect upon and be able to fulfil the requirements for the counselling assignment. They will be able to use various strategies and tools for councelling.
Learning activities:
Lectures, group work, practical training, assignments from the practical training subject area, exercises, independent work. Meetings on campus and web-based work between the meetings.
Teaching support:
The students will receive counselling of the compulsory activities.
Syllabus:
The literature will be selected by individual students according to their specific needs and goals. The syllabus shall comprise approximately 450 pages and should be approved by the course responsible. Central literature will be recommended via LMS.

Reflection notes in connection with planning and implementation of councelling.
Nominal workload:
Nominal workload 300 hours in:
- Teaching and counseling 80 hours
- Group work, independent study: 220 hours.

Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse)
