Course contents:
We follow the phases which mythical heroes and heroines have to pass in their quest for knowledge. Each of these phases is illuminated through the participants' own experiences, through topics in myths, tales, poetry, paintings and other art forms, and through biographical events in the lives of known researchers and artists.
Learning outcome:
The students shall become aware of the scientific and personal challenges posed by a researcher education. The participants shall be able  to communicate the challenges faced during the research process.
Learning activities:
Assignments and exercises aiming at calling forth the participants' images of possible dilemmas in creative processes. Seminars on the participants experiences of the exercises and their experiences of exploring the unknown. Lectures on material that can be suitable in  elaboration on such experiences and that can be useful in communication.
Syllabus:
Reading list which includes ca. 800 pages is handed out.
Recommended prerequisites:
Mandatory activity:
Participation in minimum 80% of the activities.
Assessment:

Written assignment which counts 100 %. Assessment term: Passed/Not Passed

The participants write an assignment based on their own development and how they can use mythical and artistic motives and own expressions to illuminate that process and become motivated to deal with current conflicts. The participants present the content of their assignment, and the other participants and the teacher comment on it.

Entrance requirements:
Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse)

Exercises: 17 hours. Seminars: 17 hours. Web-based  teaching 20 hours.
Note:
At least 8 participants 
Examiner:
An external examiner takes part in the assessment of the examination papers of all the candidates.
