B-ØN, B-MINA, B-FORNY, B-SF. Then students at corresponding master´s programs.
The course provides a theoretical and practical introduction to interdisciplinary impact assessments with the main emphasis on impact assessments (KU) in accordance with the provisions of the Planning and Building Act. Through the use of examples, the management processes around land use changes and the basis for the assessments made in a KU are explained. The teaching is based on recognized methodology in the area (including the Norwegian Public Roads Administration's handbook V712 and the Norwegian Environment Agency's guide for climate and environmental issues in impact assessments). In addition, various themes and perspectives are presented to give the subject a greater breadth - including what different subject disciplines (such as ecology, landscape analysis and LCA) can contribute to impact assessments. Conflict management and participant participation are also emphasized in the course.
Knowledge: • The student has broad knowledge of key topics in economic analyzes, knows the basis for assessments of priced and non-priced consequences, and knows important data sources. • The student knows the societal benefits of impact assessments.
Skills: • The student can apply professional knowledge to prepare an impact assessment. • The student can reflect on their own work during the preparation of an impact assessment and adjust this under supervision • The student can use relevant tools, such as GIS, and suitable databases, as well as their own data.
General competence: • The student can plan and carry out impact assessments, alone and as a participant in a group. • The student can convey decision-relevant information from an impact assessment, both in writing and orally, to different user groups.
Lectures, teamwork, term paper and seminars.
Lecture notes and other relevant information will be put on Canvas. The student´s learning is supported through academic supervision in the hours assigned for the term paper, and in the teachers' office hours.
The reading list will be avaiable in Canvas. Main reading is Statens vegvesen: Konsekvensanalyser, Håndbok V712.
Basic knowledge within biology, ecology, nature- and forest management, environment and natural resources, economics, law and spatial planning
Portfolio asessment that consists of two parts. A take-home exam (counts 40 %) and a term paper (paper + presentation, counts 60 %). Both must be passed to pass the course.
50 hours lectures etc. 200 hours of self-studies (reading, writing of term papers and preparation for own presentation).
Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse)
Type of course:
Lectures, teamwork and presentation of termpapers 50 hours.
Students that do not get a seat in the course can meet at the first lecture. Free seats will be distributed after the first lecture.
An external examiner evaluates all term papers.
