The subject aims to develop independent judgment and broad understanding regarding Knowledge of: - Management system in the Norwegian public green areas relevant to the subject - the different organization and functions of green space management in small and medium-sized municipalities - understanding of their roles and issues related to the business - green space management role as an actor, primarily in the public sector, on different levels, national, regional and local - role and interests - How state green policies are implemented and how this affected the local politics and administration - The development of political and administrative system of roles and responsibilities at the various levels and their - Management systems in public administration - Understanding how the various actors influences the real development - Challenges in the management of urban and semiurbane landscapes and green spaces with full administrative solutions - The principles of management as strategic actors acting and interaction between private and public actors. - the role of green spaces and landscape management as an important player in, primarily, public activity at different levels in the state, county and municipality - the different ways this is organised - the structure of the political and administrative system with roles and responsibility at the different levels - the administrative systems in public management - understanding of how the different players influence the development. - Participation in public debate Skill Collect and systematize the relevant knowledge / data in the areas mentioned above and apply it to practical and theoretical problems in green space area and to professionally justify their decisions for independent reviews of solutions both organizationally and in the preparation of various plans to write a statement General competencies: Self obtain new knowledge and acquire new skills relevant to green areas management. Should have knowledge of magazines and other channels presents new knowledge within the green areas subject as well as contribute as a professional voice Ha critical look at their own work and have the ability to reflect on arguments and other consideration perspectives obtained under the guidance of teachers and fellow students. The learning methods are mainly problem-based with starting point in an example organisation with a diversity of public and private players in the management field. There will be emphasis on cooperation between the students, the course teachers and external resource persons. Project work, in group and individually, is an important part of the course. Litterature seminar The course should give a knowledge base for - independent evaluations - academic and organisational challenges and solutions in the green space and landscape management of urban and semi-urban green areas - interaction between the private and the public - evaluation of principles and programmes for the management - restructuring of existing green spaces in order to optimise management considerations - organisation and tasks for joint green space management in small and medium-sized municipalities.
Plenary tutoring and tutoring for individual groups. Individual question that is addressed to course coordinator of general interest will be answered in Canvas.
Featured articles from various journals and magazines. Arkitektnytt; KOTE, Landskab etc., ie updated annually. Article Series posted on Canvas There will be a Seminar on litterature

Approved first year of study programs Landscape Engineer / Landscape Architecture, accredited bachelor\Â´s degree in plant science or equivalent from another institution
Basic knowledge of Norwegian government on different levels.
All reviews, including final review with sensor. Local excursions. 80% participation in lectures,
Submission of complete folder with papers in Canvas and project assignments with a final presentation. All submissions must be made within specified deadlines and be passed. The project assignment is counted in the grade, the other task and student participation may help to adjust the grade up or down.

Lectures, inspections, supervision.
4-6 hours schedule secured pr. week. Lectures, etc .: +/- 50 hours. Seminars. 15 Inspections, fieldtrip: up to 25 hours. Tutoring: 5 hours. Reviews: 20 hours. In addition to participation in the structured hours, expected remaining hours as their own efforts.
External examiner participates in the formulation of assignment questions and in the final presentation and evaluation of submitted assignments in Canvas.
