Course contents:
The course includes lectures and exercises. Applying to the common agricultural crops (cereals, fodder crops, vegetables, potato) and factors that influence this are reviewed and environmental assessments related to fertilization. Fertilizer Planning manually and the data and models used for this are covered in theory and in practical exercises.
Learning outcome:
Goal: * Overview of the main crop fertilization needs * Be able to assess the needs for nutrition with different fertilizer and lime kind on the basis of growth, natural conditions and soil analyzes * Could make fertilization plans both manually and using computer programs * Understand the processes and models underlying the calculations behind fertilization plans
Learning activities:
The course is given by lectures, exercises in manual fertilization planning and fertilization planning with the use of the computer program Skifteplan.
Teaching support:
Organized teaching (lectures and exercises) are planned mainly in the timing 8-12. Individual exercises beyond this time supported by the teacher is available for questions and guidance during normal working hours.

JORD230 Soil as plant growth medium.
Recommended prerequisites:
JORD212 Soil Analysis.
Mandatory activity:
Exercise on fertilizer planning and discussion/lectures.
Assessment:

Obligatory exercises and class discussion 50%.

Term paper 50%.
