First time: Study year 2011-2012
Basic theory (lectures) of valuations, measurement of value, basic economic rent: approximately 35 %. Practical valuation of dwellings, commercial real estate, framland, forest, outlying fields, and more. Valuation of whole or parts of property in the free market: approximately 60 %. Different related topics such as changing of owners, securing deals, etc.: approximately 5 %. Lectures on practical valuation are coordinated with work on the project(s).
The student is to know the most common practical techniques for valuating real estate in the most common valuation situations. The student is also to become familiar with the most important factors determining the value of real estate. The student should be able to critically evaluate a value evaluation that has been conducted, which includes knowing about common weaknesses of such evaluations. The student should be able to conduct an independent value evaluation of real estate with support of professional knowledge of buildings and special fields. The student is to be aware of the ethical sides of a value evaluation.
The course builds mainly on group-based projects in combination with lectures.
Some supervision on the project.
No direct course curriculum will be used. A list of supporting literature will be handed out at the first lecture.
BUS100, EIE100 or the equivalent.
Submission of a project plan and one or more excursions.
Lectures: ca. 50 hours. Excursion: ca. 10 hours. Structured guidance on the projects ca. 10 hours. Group work: ca. 110 hours. Self-study: ca. 120 hours.

An external examiner participates in the evaluation of all the candidates' examination answers.
