Learning outcome

Students are to be familiar with important lines of development in the Norwegian history of property right and tenure systems, in different parts of the country, and in rural and urban areas as a background for professional practice. They should understand and be able to use the most common types of documents related to property rights and transactions in their proper historical context. Generally the course gtives an introduction to Norwegian economic history fram app. 1600, and methods of history.

Land use is central in development of sustainability; causes to-, effects of- and solutions of emvironmental and social problems. Often land tenure structures must be changed to achieve positive developments. Understanding of historical backgrounds will often be important for such processes.

    An external examiner takes part in an evaluation of the examination papers from all the candidates. The examiner is systematically and thoroughly informed of the course goal, content, arrangements and implementation, and is also included in the development of examination papers.
