Topics in the course include: Growth theory. The relationship between economic growth and development. Stabilization policy. Current issues.
Students should be able to use economic models to analyze current concerns related to macroeconomic stabilization, economic growth and development. The course should also stimulate interest in current social issues and an analytical attitude.
Lectures with student - teacher interaction and seminars. Individual assignments on key theories and models.
The teacher has office hours, and is available to discuss topics and assignment activities.
Romer, D. (2012) Advanced Macroeconomics (selected sections), plus a selection of book chapters and journal articles. A reading list will be provided at the start of the semester.
Bachelor´s degree in economics or an intermediate course in macroeconomics at the level of ECN222.
ECN302 Mathematics for economists.
Written examination, 3,5 hours (100%).
Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse).
Type of course:
4 hours per week for lectures and exercises.
An external examiner will examine the curriculum, examination sets and exam assessment guide.
