The course comprises four main sections: 1. Microeconomic foundations for environmental and natural resource economics. 2. Environmental and resource economics. 3. Policy analysis with emphasis on environmental issues. 4. Macroeconomics with a focus on sustainable development.
The students will be able to apply basic concepts and theories from microeconomics, resource economics, project appraisal and macroeconomics in interdisciplinary analysis of problems related to environment, agriculture, development and natural resources.
Lectures, compulsory assignments/exercises and individual reading.
Information will be given during the first lecture and will be made available on Fronter.
Three out of four assignments must receive a passing grade. Class presentation must receive a passing grade. Mandatory activity is valid until the next time the course is offered and for re-examination.
Written examination, 3 hours (100%).
Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse).
Reduction of credits:
ECN110 - 3 ECTS, ECN120 - 3 ECTS, ECN170 - 3 ECTS, ECN100 - 5 ECTS, EDS140 - 10 ECTS.
