Give students an insight into the normal structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of animals, with particular emphasis on matters of importance for the care of sick animals.
After completing the course the student should
- Have acquired sufficient knowledge and understanding of animal
anatomy and physiologyas the basis for the rest of the veterinary nurse program to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills in various clinical and para clinical subjects.
- Understand how the animal organism functions as a whole and have achieved basal insight into the interaction between the body's different organ systems with regard to structure and function.
- Understanding the significance of the main mechanisms for maintaining the physical / chemical composition of the animal body's internal environment (homeostasis).
- Have achieved sufficient knowledge about animal physiology to be able to recognize deviations from the animals' normal physiological condition.
- Have learned to collaborate on professional issues through workshops and seminars, and be able to carry out oral and / or written presentations of solutions of these.
- Have developed an ethical awareness regarding contact with live and dead animals for teaching purposes and research..
- Have gained understanding that working with dead animals and organs can cause hygienic risks, and the necessity to expel hygienic behavior.
Teaching methods and approach
The teaching is performed by auditorium lectures, colloquium group exercises and laboratory course.
The teachers of anatomy/physiology are available for professional guidance on the teached subjects in connextion with auditorial lectures, seminars and laboratory courses. In addition, the lecturers will be able to answer questions via e-mail. Students may also as far as possible after appointment pose questions to the lecturers in person during ordinary business hours .

The hematology course is mandatory
The exam form is oral examination.
No aids are allowed.
10 weeks teaching period, but calculated to 7 weeks work.
