Course contents:
Basic financial mathematics. Net present value. Risk and return. Basic portfolio theory. Capital asset pricing method (CAPM). Pricing of stocks and bonds. Capital budgeting. Project analysis. Cost of capital. Financial structure and dividend policy. Ethical problems in finance.
Learning outcome:
The course should provide the student with basic knowledge and understanding of modern finance and investment theory. Through the course students should acquire necessary theoretical and methodological skills to analyse finance and investment problems in different practical situations.
Learning activities:
Lectures, exercises, group work.
Teaching support:
Distributed at the start of the course.
Basic financial accounting. Basic cost accounting. Introductory mathematics and statistics.

Minimum requirements for entrance to higher education in Norway (generell studiekompetanse)
Reduction of credits:
Students can not be awarded credits for both BUS220 and RØP310.
Type of course:
Lectures: 45 hours, plus direct guidance and guidance over the Internet. Review of exercises.
External examiner will control the quality of syllabus, questions for the final examination, and principles for the assessment of the examination answers.
