Introductory course in biotechnology and chemistry, including information technology. Lecture in bioethics and plagiarism. Lectures and laboratory exercises from different fields in biotechnology and chemistry. Excursion to businesses in the biotechnological and chemical industry. An introduction to laboratory health and safety (HSE).
Students will get an overview of chemical, biostatistical and biotechnological research at NMBU. Students will be introduced to laboratory work in chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and microbiology.Students will present results form their own laboratory trials and present a given topic as a poster.
Lectures. Excursion. Instructions in use of computers for making posters. Writing reports from laboratory exercises. Oral presentations of poster.
Instruction in use of computers for literature searches and poster preparation.
Higher education entrance qualification.
Lectures and laboratory exercises. Handing in lab.reports.
Poster presentation. Approved reports from laboratory work.
Three weeks in August with: Lectures: 20 hours. Laboratory exercises with preparation and journal writing: 50 hours. Excursion: 15 hours. Poster preparation and presentation: 65 hours.
