Course contents:
Introductory course in biotechnology and chemistry, including information technology. Lecture in bioethics and plagiarism. Lectures and laboratory exercises from different fields in biotechnology and chemistry. Excursion to businesses in the biotechnological and chemical industry. An introduction to laboratory health and safety (HSE).
Learning outcome:
Students will get an overview for chemical, biostatistical and biotechnological research at NMBU. Students will get introduced to laboratory work in chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and microbiology.Students will be able to present results form thei own laboratorytrials and present a given topic as a poster.

Instructions in use of computers for poster presentations.
Writing reports from laboratory exercises.

Instruction in use of computers for literature searches and poster preparation.
