Course contents:
The course will focus on production methods, mainly for Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout. In the laboratory exercises, the students will follow and control the production cycle and make comments about the production results. There will be exercises in measuring of the water quality and using of equipment to improve the water quality. There will also be exercises in controlling other types of equipment used on a fish farm.
Learning outcome:
The students shall get practical training and insight in operations used in international fish farming. The focus is on land-based fish farms and production methods.

Laboratory exercises with journal.
Teaching support:
The course teacher is available for support in connection with calculation exercises in working hours, and by e-mail and phone outside of the teaching hours. Laboratory exercises are carried out under the guidance and technical assistance from other persons at the department that are available during the working day.
Syllabus:
Reading list will be handed out in lectures.
Prerequisites:
Bachelor degree or corresponding - Entrance requirement for the Master´s programme in aquaculture at NMBU.

Continuous assessment, laboratory reports and presentation counts 1/1.
Nominal workload:
Approx. 150 hours, exercises and homework.

Reduction of credits:
Five credit overlapp with previous course AQT250.
Type of course:
Lectures: 6 hours. Laboratory exercises: 35 hours. Student presentation of exercise results: 6 hours.
Note:
The courses AQT 251 OG AQT 252 can be taken in random order, and it is no need for taking both
Examiner:
An external examiner is used for evaluation and quality control of course plans and compulsory exercises and laboratory reports. The assessment procedures and considerations in connection with the final reports are described in a standardised form that follows the assessment results.
