About this course

The subject covers how to work with local infection control and prevention. The subject will provide knowledge on different perspectives, potential stakeholders and cross-sectional collaboration, processes, methods, ethics, and how to integrate infection control and prevention in the systematic public health work in a municipal.

Learning outcome

After the course, the student should:

Knowledge:

-Have knowledge of concepts, thematical subjects, and responsibilities within local infection control and prevention

-Have knowledge on legislation, stakeholders, planning, management, and contingency planning

Skills

-Be able to conduct health impact assessments and risk and vulnerability analyses

-Be able to use national register data and statistics on health and environmental risk factors

-Be able to understand GIS as a tool for assessing risk

Generral competence

-Be able to identify and discuss ethical issues and dilemmas within local infection control and prevention.

-Have knowledge on how to investigate, plan, conduct and evaluate a local challenge within infection control and prevention, together with relevant stakeholders.

    Intensive workshops/ full day sessions 4 to 5 days in total

  • Assessment method
    Assignment: group assignment counts 100 %. Passed/failed.

  • Examiner scheme
    External examiner who assesses the assigment and is involved in the creation of the guideline for the examination
  • Mandatory activity
    Compulsory to attend lectures (80%). It is also compulsory to participate in the group assignment.
  • Teaching hours
    Approximately 20-25 hours will be spent in sessions, with the remaining time dedicated to individual work and group assignments. There will be a 4-day in-person session and a digital session related to the work on the exam assignment.
