Misganu Debella-Gilo is a remote sensing specialist with additional high level of competence and experience in GIS, spatial analysis, and terrain analysis. With PhD in Geomatics and remote sensing, his research experiences are in the application of remote sensing and GIS methods to the mapping, monitoring and analysis of land surface resources including forestry, agriculture, glacier, urbanization, and biodiversity. His overall research directions are to contribute to the understanding of our biophysical land resource systems’ state and dynamics using remote sensing and GIS tools. Additionally, he explores the application of AI methods, particularly machine learning and deep learning, in remote sensing for the stated purposes. He has accumulated years of experience in research and teaching in addition to supervising students.
