My research explores biodiversity and functioning in boreal forests, focusing on insect–fungus interactions in dead wood and the long-term ecological effects of clear-cut forestry. Boreal forests are among Norway’s most intensively managed ecosystems, and understanding these impacts is critical for conservation and sustainable management.
I combine field experiments, environmental DNA analysis, and statistical modeling to study species communities and ecosystem processes. I recently published a comprehensive review on how clear-cutting affects forest biodiversity and currently contribute to the EcoForest project.
This work provides knowledge essential for balancing timber production with biodiversity conservation in northern forests.
