About the speakers:
Professor Nick Holden’s research focuses on the sustainability of agriculture and food chains, specializing in Life Cycle Assessment, soil quality, and agricultural systems technology. With a PhD in soil sciences, he leads research on livestock production, dairy processing, and waste valorization. He is a professor at University College Dublin (UCD), Principal Investigator, and leader of major national and EU-funded sustainability projects.
Maria Bystricky is a life cycle assessment (LCA) expert specializing in agricultural systems. Since 2012, she has worked at Agroscope as a project manager, focusing on climate mitigation, sustainable farming, and environmental impacts of agri-food systems. She develops LCA methods and data, including emission models and biodiversity assessments, and previously researched energy crop cultivation during her doctoral studies at Technische Universität München.
Hanne Møller is a senior researcher at NORSUS (Norwegian Institute for Sustainability Research), specializing in life cycle assessment (LCA) of agriculture-based products, particularly in livestock production, feed and food waste. With a background in agricultural science from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (now University of Copenhagen), she has over 30 years of experience in the field. She will defend her Dr. Philos on sustainable livestock systems on the 13th of June.
